With its International Street Theatre Festival, Aurillac has become one of the five national scenes financed by the Ministry of Culture.

The theatre offers a rich and varied cultural season soon to be completed by a multi-use 3,000 seat theatre which will host major cultural shows.

The town of Aurillac also boasts a national school of music and dance (ENMD).

Aurillac library completes the loan arrangements set up by the department, and made available in each commune.



However, the region's main cultural resource is the large number of cultural associations that put on shows throughout the year, attracting an audience that comes from far beyond the department's borders. Here, people can be actors as much as spectators.

The region's many themed fairs provide both a stamp of the region's cultural identity and a vehicle for its production, showcasing a wide variety of products such as pigs, chestnuts, raffia, boogie-woogie, tripoux (a regional dish), or bourrée (a type of music).

During three days, Aurillac becomes the appointment impossible to circumvent of all the gourmands.
