A region rich in resources

The Aurillac Region covers the area between the Puy Mary (1,787 m) and the town of Maurs (200 m) called "the little Nice of the Cantal" because of its mild climate. The region is an attractive combination of plateaux, valleys and hills.
The main part of this vast natural space abutting the Cantal Volcano remains a rural area where every effort is made to preserve the environment. Ramblers soon develop a liking for wandering along the many little paths criss-crossing the region, leading them to discover a host of out-of-the-way places that house a rich and varied collection of unique historic artefacts.
In addition to rambling and hiking, the region offers as many winter sports at its ski resort as summer sports around its numerous lakes and rivers.

The Aurillac Region is also rich in job opportunities, services, shops, and cultural activities, as well as boasting the reputation of being one of the safest regions in France. Among the many businesses that have set up in the Aurillac basin, some are today leaders in their business area on both the national and international markets.

The town of Aurillac, capital of the Cantal department, also offers a very high level of education and training. It puts special emphasis on spotlighting jobs in the artisanat sector, thus boosting business reactivation. Over the last few hundred years, the Aurillac Region, taking full advantage of its deep and bountiful heritage, has developed into a region offering a myriad of opportunities.
